Ishibei-koji 石塀小路

Getting Lost in Ishibei-koji

Posted on 8 March 2012

Travel Date: 30 October 2010
Location: Higashiyama area, Kyoto

Have no idea how did I end up at Ishibei-koji (石塀小路), but certainly am very glad that I did. It’s a small narrow stone-paved alley with traditional wooden houses, ryokan, restaurants on both sides. Seems like a maze at first, but the atmosphere was so great that I wished it never end – especially it was very quiet when I was there, felt just like I’ve time traveled back to the old, classic Kyoto.

Strolling on the little alley

Love it!

How To Get There

  • It’s somewhere off from Nene no Michi (The Path of Nene)
